Do I need to keep medicine in the original container?: No. In fact, we prefer you remove as much packaging as possible, by dumping pills together in a plastic baggie, for instance. No loose pills, please! Also, please put liquid medicines in a sealed plastic bag in case they leak.

1. What do you mean by “business medicines?”: Once a medicine has been purchased by or prescribed to a person, it is residential medicine, and accepted by this program. No medicine from pharmacies or clinics may be accepted under Minnesota Law.

2. What do you accept through the Medicine Collection Program?: List of Acceptable Items

3. Do you accept liquid medicine?: Yes. Please place your liquid medicine into a concealed container and place into a plastic baggie to prevent any leaks.

4. Do you accept syringes of medicine or epi-pens?: No. Syringes with needles and epi-pens should be disposed through HyVee's Sharps Program.

5. Why don’t you accept hydrogen peroxide?: It could react with certain types of medicines. Please drop this off at the Hazardous Waste Facility!

6. What happens to the medicine?: It is incinerated in the Xcel Energy Wilmarth Waste-to-Energy plant in Mankato.
