The Blue Earth County Library System (BECLS) is pleased to present “Telling True Stories,” a writing workshop led by Rachael Hanel. Whether hoping to write down memories for family members and friends or aiming to publish a book-length memoir, participants are invited to try their hands at writing exercises designed to spark their memories and tell their histories! This event will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, September 18 in the Blue Earth County Library Auditorium in Mankato. The workshop is free and open to those ages 16 and older; interested participants should call 507-304-4002 to register, as space is limited.
Hanel is a former newspaper reporter and copy editor and teaches Mass Communication at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is the author of more than 20 nonfiction books for children and a book for adults, We'll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger’s Daughter, which was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award.
This event is made possible due to support from the people of Minnesota and the Minnesota State Arts Board’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. “Telling True Stories” is part of the BECLS Fall 2021 Author Events Series, which brings acclaimed authors to the region for readings from their work and discussions of the writing life. Events are free and open to the public.
