A ribbon-cutting event is planned for Tues., July 5 at 1:30 p.m. for the Historic County Road 147 Bridge, also known as the Dodd Ford Bridge, near Amboy. The event will include remarks, a ribbon-cutting, ceremonial bridge crossing and refreshments. The 1901 bridge is listed on the National Registry of Historic places and is one of only two remaining examples of respected bridge builder, L.H. Johnson’s work from that time period. As part of the unique bridge rehabilitation project, the historic value of the bridge truss was preserved while constructing new steel beams and a concrete deck that will carry full legal bridge loads for modern standards. More information about the bridge is available on the Blue Earth County website within the Spring 2016 Communicator Publication at www.blueearthcountymn.gov/communicator or by contacting Blue Earth County Public Works at (507) 304-4025.
