Applications are now being accepted through Friday, March 18 for the 2016 Blue Earth County Citizens Academy. The free program offers Blue Earth County residents a unique opportunity to get an inside look at county government operations and services.
Throughout the sessions, participants will interact with elected officials and staff from a variety of departments and learn about areas including administration, finance, Sheriff's office, County Attorney, probation, human services, environmental services, public works, library, elections and taxpayer services. Those accepted to the program, will also have the ability to tour a number of County facilities for a hands-on learning experience.
The program is seven weeks in length and will run Tuesday evenings from March 29 through May 10, 2016. Sessions last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at rotating County facilities. All participants will receive special recognition at the first County Board Meeting in May. Class size is limited to 20 participants, age 18 and above. To be considered for the program, all candidates must submit application materials by Friday, March 18, 2016. Citizens from throughout Blue Earth County are encouraged to apply.
