Blue Earth County has scheduled a series of public meetings to bring forward information and discuss the potential for implementing a local sales tax option for transportation. Meeting dates, times and locations are listed below.

At the meetings, Blue Earth County officials will provide information regarding the County’s transportation infrastructure needs, along with possible funding strategies that are currently being discussed by the County Board.
In 2013, the Minnesota Legislature passed legislation authorizing individual counties to enact two new revenue sources to specifically finance transportation projects: A wheelage tax of $10 on vehicles kept in their county as well as up to a ½ percent local sales tax. Since that time, many surrounding counties have implemented one or both options.
