[ARCHIVED] National Preparedness Month

WRN.jpg

Blue Earth County participates in National Preparedness Month (NPM) annually in helping educate the public through sharing information and resources provided by FEMA in addition to taking part in activities throughout the year to promote preparedness for all types of disaster situations.

This year's theme is "Don't Wait. Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today." The public is encouraged to take part, make a plan and know what to do in an emergency. This means having an up-to-date contact list for those you may need to reach during a disaster and establishing alternate methods of communication in case traditional means are not available.

Having a simple phone list or communications plan is often the easiest way to prepare for emergencies. Making sure everyone knows who to call or where to go if and when a disaster strikes can often make the difference between worry and peace of mind. It's important to take the time now to plan - not when a disaster happens.
