Area youth are invited to take part in the 2015 Summer Reading Program at Blue Earth County Libraries in Mankato, Lake Crystal and Mapleton. This year's theme is “Read to the Rhythm” and will offer several fun, educational activities and programs for participants to stay engaged in reading over the summer. Sign-up begins Monday, June 1 and continues with scheduled programs taking place between June 9 through July 30 at all library locations. Participants are able to earn prizes for time spent reading in four age categories; 0 to 3, 4 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 17.

New 2015 programs include Ventriloquist James Wedgwood, Musician Mary Hall’s Show for Pipsqueaks, Bubble Wonders, Puppeteer Lisa Laird, Unwine Creations, Sonflower Puppets with Barbi Cox and Monkey Business with Annette Fragale. Other programs back by popular demand are Minnesota Zoomobile, U of M Raptor Center, Peter Bloedel, Airplane Rides and much more! Programs take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays with varying times depending on location. For a complete listing of programs visit www.beclibrary.org and click on the events calendar.

The Blue Earth County summer reading program is free to all participants and is able to maintain one of the strongest programs in the state thanks to the generosity of all its sponsors. Taylor Corporation (primary sponsor) and Friends of the Deep Valley Libraries remain the library’s largest sponsors of the program. All contributions great and small are all appreciated and ensure that quality programs continue for the youth in our area.
