Blue Earth County is seeking participation from businesses in gathering recycling data for the annual Select Committee on Recycling and the Environment (SCORE) Report that counties within Minnesota are required to submit each year by State statute. This report requires information on tonnages for many types of items including; appliances, used oil and filters, waste tires and everything in between. Businesses throughout the County have been mailed forms to report recycling volumes for the 2014 calendar year.
The County is asking businesses to participate by completing and returning the form by March 9, 2015. An online version of the form is also available at www.blueearthcountymn.gov/businessrecycleform.
Participation by businesses helps ensure that accurate recycling measurements are collected and that important information is gathered for local and Statewide planning efforts and future recycling/solid waste needs and programs. Data provided by area businesses is released only as a composite number and individual reports are not available to the public or the State.
With the help of the business community, Blue Earth County has achieved one of the highest recycling rates in the State. In 2013, Blue Earth County had a recycling rate of 55 percent.
