General Election Day on November 4, 2014 is fast approaching and there are a number of ways to get ready and be prepared by being aware of important dates, understanding voting eligibility and knowing how to vote in Minnesota. These topics and all election information can be found in one place by visiting the Minnesota Secretary of State website at www.mnvotes.org.
The website allows voters to get informed ahead of time by providing information about candidates, issues and to educate voters with sample ballot examples. The site also serves as a platform for voters to get registered. Rather than waiting until Election Day at the polls, voters can now register to vote online or by completing a voter registration form and returning it to their County elections office. The deadline to pre-register to vote is Tue., October 14, 2014.
Applications for absentee voting are available online for voters to apply. In person absentee voting begins Sept. 19, 2014.
Additionally, MNVOTES.ORG provides information to voters on where to vote, hours of polling places (most are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and helpful polling place information.
