Anyone interested in a child passenger car seat check - at no cost – will have an opportunity between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Minnesota Department of Transportation, 2151 Bassett Drive, Mankato.
Appointments are preferred and can be made by call Tracy at 612-275-0916, but drop ins are welcome. Tracy Brown is the Southern Minn. Child Passenger Safety Liaison for the Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety and is nationally certified child passenger safety technician.
Three out of four child restraints are improperly used.
The check-up event is sponsored by MnDOT District 7, C.P.S. Associates, Blue Earth Community Health and DPS-Office of Traffic Safety.
The South Central Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths initiative brings area law enforcement, public health educators, engineers and emergency medical and trauma services together to reduce the number of traffic fatalities and severe injuries to zero in south central Minnesota. The 13-county area encompasses: Blue Earth, Brown Cottonwood, Faribault, Jackson, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Nobles, Rock, Sibley, Waseca and Watonwan counties.
