Between 4 to 6 inches of rain was reported in Blue Earth County overnight resulting in several road closures and impacts due to the heavy rainfall throughout rural areas and communities. Many homes are experiencing wet basements from the large amounts of rainfall, trees are down in a number of areas due to the unstable soil from the accumulation of many days of rain and river levels continue to rise. Northern portions of Blue Earth County have been impacted the most, including City of Mankato proper and Madison Lake. Madison Lake is experiencing flooding near the Mankato Lift Station by Lindbergh Park and residents are asked to use minimal water until flooding is under control. Within the City of Mankato, a number of streets have been closed and Land of Memories Campground has been evacuated. The National Weather Service is forecasting additional rain and severe weather through Thursday. Emergency Management is asking the public to be alert for changing conditions and to use extreme caution when traveling, as road conditions can change rapidly under these circumstances.
