Since the zoning map is part of the County's Official Controls, any re-zone or amendment must conform to the comprehensive plan adopted by the County. The land use map included in the comprehensive plan designates this area as an agricultural use area. The proposed re-zone to permit construction of a ten lot residential subdivision in an agricultural use area conflicts with the Land Use Plan and violates State Statute.
The proposed re-zone and increased residential density will impact and may lead to the eventual displacement of wildlife in the Gilfillin Lake Wildlife Management Area.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners, that the request to amend the zoning map of Blue Earth County by re-zoning the portion of Section 33, Jamestown Township described above from A-1, Agricultural Zoned District, to R-1, Rural Residential Zoned District, to develop a ten lot residential subdivision, is hereby denied.
