Filing for Office in 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minnesota State Legislature has allowed for flexibility in candidate filing options.

Candidates in Blue Earth County (and the City of Mankato) may file in one of three ways during the filing period which starts at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19 and continues to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
  • Mail or dropbox at the Blue Earth County Historic Courthouse
  • Email
  • By appointment, if one of the above options is not possible
To learn more about filing for office, see the county's Candidate Information page.

Candidates for any office who will be out of the state during the filing period may file affidavits of candidacy and filing fees or petitions (if any) during the seven days immediately preceding their absence from the state. Please contact our office if this circumstance applies.
