Parcel Numbers

About the Numbers

The mapping staff in the Blue Earth Property and Environmental Resources Department are responsible for maintaining the county’s permanent parcel numbering system. All parcels in the county are assigned a unique parcel identification number.

A parcel’s identification number may be used to describe property, however the legal description is the official way to identify property.

Using the Parcel Identification Number to Locate Property

The parcel identification number may also be used to locate property because of the consistent system utilized by Blue Earth County. All parcel identification numbers follow the same structure:
  • R##.##.##.###.###
  • M##.##.##.###.### (for manufactured homes)

Parcel Identification Number Structure

R ## ## ## ### ###

Please view the Parcel Numbering System document for more information on the parcel numbering system and a listing of jurisdiction numbers. For example, R01.09.18.134.001 is the parcel identification number for the Blue Earth County Historic Courthouse:
  • “R” = Real property
  • “01” = City of Mankato
  • “09” = Book # (assigned to each Township and Range)
  • “18” = Section the property is located in
  • “134” = City block location
  • “001” = Unique property identifier
The parcel identification number can be used to locate property in the county’s property characteristics information system or in our property tax information system. The property characteristics information system will also display a map for the property.
