Inspection Needed for a Certificate of Compliance
A compliance inspection is an evaluation, investigation, inspection or other such process conducted for the purpose of issuing a Certificate of Compliance or Notice of Non-compliance.
Compliance inspections are done at various triggered events on a property. These are:
- Building permits
- Conditional uses
- Property Transfer
- Shoreland Permits
- Property Divisions
At the time of application for permits a current certificate of compliance needs to be on file with the department or a compliance inspection may need to be done depending on the specifics of the project and the property.
Compliance inspections are conducted by State licensed septic compliance inspectors
. The Department reviews the results of the inspection and decides to either issue a Certificate of Compliance or require the the septic system be fixed or upgraded.
