Boat & Water Patrol

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol unit is dedicated to providing the finest quality law enforcement services to citizens enjoying the county’s numerous waterways.

In 2015 the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office transitioned the Water Patrol Deputy position from part-time seasonal, to a full time position.  As the department incorporated a School Resource Officer position that year, during the summer months that deputy transitions to Water patrol duties.  This provides the county with a experienced, well-trained and knowledgeable deputy that can build strong community partnerships with users of the lakes and rivers within the county, as well as the guests and staff of our beautiful County Parks.

The Water Patrol Deputy provides presentations on water safety education to youth safety camps, summer youth programs, elementary school classes and local groups throughout the year.  During the summer months, the Water Patrol unit represents the Sheriff’s Office at local community celebrations and parades.
